Omosexy Jalade-Ekeinde sees her charitable, activism traits in her children

Famed thespian, Mrs Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde (Omo-Sexy), on Tuesday said she could see her humanitarian and activism traits in her children.
Omotola, who was a brand ambassador of Knorr Cubes, a product of Unilever Nigeria Plc told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that she felt so because “a Lion cannot give birth to a rat’’.
“My children don’t have a choice, they have to take after me, and a Lion does not give birth to a rat. “I have raised all my children to be conscious of activism and humanitarian duties.
“This explains the reason I brought my daughter out to participate in my activism, not only that, social responsibilities too, which has now become the hallmark of my career.
“This is aimed at making my daughters a sort of encouragement to other young girls who would in turn encourage their mothers to participate in the fight against deadly anaemia,’’ she said.
Omotola, who is also a United Nation Ambassador, explained that she joined the fight against iron deficiency anaemia to show that it should be a fight by all.
“My participation in the fight against anaemia is not for advertisement or publicity, it goes beyond that, it is a conscious effort, collectively for women in the society, a fight by all.
“What I am standing for now is how to ensure the safety of motherhood through an initiative of a global company in making our diets nutritious by adding value through iron intakes.
“How to have our food in an interesting manner which is essential to combating this iron deficiency is what we are talking about.
“This iron deficiency creeps into us without knowing that it majorly affects women and the girl child. Now there is a deliberate effort to win the battle against it,’’ she said.
Omotola suggested that adequate consumption of green vegetables and other iron providing staple foods was a major way to win the battle against anaemia.
“We should teach our mothers the need for adequate consumption of vegetables and other iron providing staple foods, it should be a new way to cook our foods.
“It is not pretty much changing how to cook, but adding value to foods by including vegetables to everything we take as meal.
“I trained all my children to cook, this is a norm in my home and now we will make it more nutritional by using iron fortified seasoning and consume more vegetables.
“I will encourage others to join me in this spirited fight against iron deficiency anaemia and free our society from its grip” she said.
